A planning agency thattracks growth and economic trends in the San Francisco Bay area is projecting that the region's population will grow by 1.7 million people over the next 25 years.
The Association of Bay Area Governments says the most dramatic growth will be in San Jose and surrounding Santa Clara County.
Agency planners expect San Jose's population to jump by 412,200 people by 2035, with the population of Santa Clara County expanding by 33 percent.
San Francisco's population is expected to grow by 159,000, while Oakland is expected to add 141,000 to its population over the next 25 years.
